Improve the aesthetic appearance of your teeth and boost your self-confidence with porcelain veneers. This common cosmetic dental treatment is made of a thin ceramic material bonded to the tooth surface, creating a natural-looking smile. Porcelain veneers are:

  • Durable
  • Long-lasting
  • Natural-looking

They may be a suitable option if your teeth have been chipped, broken, worn down, have gaps or are misaligned, discoloured and stained.

What are veneers?

Veneers are a thin shell that is bonded to the outside of your teeth, to improve colour, shape, and alignment. Veneers can be used to treat many cosmetic dental problems, including spaces between teeth, crooked teeth, broken, chipped or worn teeth or permanently discoloured or stained teeth.

How long do veneers last?

Veneers are an extremely durable cosmetic option, that improve both function and aesthetic of your teeth. The lifetime of your veneers will depend on your individual circumstances, but can range between 10 to 25 years. Just like regular teeth, veneers can be eroded by grinding, clenching and decay, so it is important to continue to maintain good dental hygiene habits. Veneers will maintain their appearance indefinitely, but many find they need a replacement procedure when gums have receded exposing the edge of the veneer.

A Simple Procedure With Incredible Results

Receiving porcelain veneers can be completed with just two appointments. At Kew Dentistry, the first visit is focused on preparing your tooth to receive the veneer. The second involves applying the veneer to the tooth. A two-week wait is necessary between appointments while your veneer is custom-made in our laboratory. In some cases, a follow-up visit can be necessary for a shade analysis or additional aesthetic assessment, ensuring you get the best possible results.

What does the procedure involve

Porcelain veneers first require an assessment of the existing natural tooth, to ensure there is enough to receive the enamel. Once that is satisfied, a thin layer is shaved off your teeth to provide a surface for the enamel to attach to. A temporary veneer will be provided for the period in which the veneer is custom made. After this period, your permanent veneer is attached and the process is complete. From start to finish the process is usually complete within two weeks, meaning veneers are one of the quickest cosmetic procedures to complete. Veneers are also one of the most permanent solutions, requiring little upkeep or follow up visits.

With rigorous shade analysis and aesthetic assessment, our tema of dentist is able to complete customise your veneers for your satisfaction. The shape, size and colour of your veneers can be altered to suit your preferences, or our dentists are able to recommend the best possible solution.
